We were happy to be a part of sharing our knowledge of some of that great music with you.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>In an interview, Soundscapes employee Phil Liberbaum <a href=\"https:\/\/nowtoronto.com\/music\/toronto-record-store-soundscapes-to-close-after-22-years\">told<\/a> NOW Magazine that the record shop\u2019s demise is directly related to the COVID-19 pandemic. (NOW Magazine)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Other local favourites in the city that have closed their doors include Gandhi Indian Cuisine, Dave\u2019s, Crocodile Rock Bar, Universal Grill, Pappas Grill, The Boat, Moo Frites, Vesuvio Pizzeria and Spaghetti House, Underground Garage, The Hideout, The Beaver, Scallywags, Lucky Star and Caf\u00e9 Crepe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/uploads.knightlab.com\/storymapjs\/708e6a28445a448339932b31c3d8a060\/closing-of-toronto-small-businesses\/index.html\" frameborder=\"0\" width=\"100%\" height=\"400\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the Canadian Federation of Independent Business (CFIB), 58,000 businesses across Canada have closed their doors permanently, citing financial strain from COVID-19 closures and restrictions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The federation\u2019s small business <a href=\"https:\/\/www.smallbusinesseveryday.ca\/dashboard\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">dashboard<\/a> shows that as of March 9 this year, 62 per cent of Canadian small businesses are open while only 31 per cent are hitting or exceeding routine sales numbers. In Ontario, only 55 per cent are open, with 27 per cent seeing normal or higher revenue goals being met.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These statistics mean that the national average of debt per business was $170,000, with the agriculture and natural resources sector reaching an average of $329,000.
