The province will be under lockdown for another 30 days, and a stay-at-home order that\u2019s in place for 28 days starting on January 14<sup>th<\/sup>.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This announcement comes shortly after a province-wide lockdown started on December 26<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;and was going to last either 14 or 28 days, depending on the region.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ford and his government said that residents should only leave their house for essential purposes, but failed to define what essential means under the stay-at-home order.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to an article from&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/globalnews.ca\/news\/7573427\/covid-19-pandemic-stay-at-home-order-essential\/\">Global News,<\/a>&nbsp;the province will \u201crely on the best judgement of Ontarians as they stay home as much as possible\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to an article from&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/toronto.ctvnews.ca\/ontario-addresses-confusion-about-new-stay-at-home-rules-these-are-the-answers-to-your-top-questions-1.5264068\">CTV News<\/a>, the lack of clarity over what\u2019s considered essential has been confusing to some residents, and left people with a lot of questions.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Later, right before the stay-at-home order- was set to begin, the provincial government released an outline of what\u2019s considered essential, as reported by&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cp24.com\/news\/what-is-considered-essential-activity-under-ontario-s-new-emergency-stay-at-home-order-1.5266448\">CP24.&nbsp;<\/a>&nbsp;According to CP24, some examples of essential trips include \u201cto go to work\u201d and \u201cto purchase food, beverage and personal care items\u201d. CP24 also reported that a person living alone can see members of one other household. Also<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The stay-at-home order will closely resemble what the province was under during the first wave of the pandemic, with minor differences.&nbsp;&nbsp;Non-essential stores are now required to open no later than 7am and close by 8pm.&nbsp;&nbsp;Grocery stores, gas stations and pharmacies and are examples of essential businesses, as reported by&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.blogto.com\/city\/2021\/01\/ontario-limit-opening-hours-retail-stores-lockdown\/\">blogTO<\/a>.
