Measuring the \u201cfinances, health and social contacts\u201d of Canadians, it is the lowest quality of life recorded since the survey began in 2003.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From the initial <a href=\"https:\/\/news.ontario.ca\/en\/release\/56435\/ontario-orders-the-mandatory-closure-of-all-non-essential-workplaces-to-fight-spread-of-covid-19\">closure of non-essential businesses<\/a> in March 2020 to the current <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbc.ca\/news\/canada\/toronto\/ontario-restrictions-state-of-emergency-rules-jan-12-1.5870215\">stay-at-home order in Ontario<\/a> in effect since Jan. 14, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbc.ca\/news\/business\/jobs-canada-october-1.5792149\">CBC<\/a> reports the economy is trying to recover with around two to three million jobs lost during the first wave of the pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.knightlab.com\/libs\/timeline3\/latest\/embed\/index.html?source=1BPKgXrTeqgPVEULmrUc3hQ7cM_cADUKImeFQdSR8Fc8&amp;font=Default&amp;lang=en&amp;initial_zoom=2&amp;height=650\" width=\"100%\" height=\"650\" webkitallowfullscreen=\"\" mozallowfullscreen=\"\" allowfullscreen=\"\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite the federal government\u2019s efforts to procure COVID-19 vaccines Maj.-Gen. Dany Fortin, appointed to oversee vaccine distribution, said at a press conference on Jan. 15 that due to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbc.ca\/news\/politics\/pfizer-temporarily-reducing-vaccine-deliveries-1.5874645\">renovations at Pfizer&#8217;s factory in Belgium<\/a>, deliveries of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine would be delayed and reduced until early February.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Citing shortening supplies provincially at a Jan. 19 press conference, Doug Ford, premier of Ontario, expressed concern over the shortages and the effects on vaccination timelines as, \u201cthe vaccine is the difference between life and death for the most vulnerable,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This comes as Dr. Theresa Tam, chief public health officer, said at another Jan. 15 press conference that a surge in cases is due in part to the holiday season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cUnless public health measures are further intensified, we will not be able to sufficiently suppress the current rate of epidemic growth,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"involveme_embed\" data-embed=\"jwjava\/whats-your-emotional-intelligence-d568\"><\/div>\n<script src=\"https:\/\/app.involve.me\/embed\"><\/script>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The average quality of life across Canada declined this year during the COVID-19 pandemic, a survey says.
