The 2021 Veganuary campaign received an increasing amount of support, with an all-time high of 500,000 participants who pledged to be vegan.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"flourish-embed flourish-chart\" data-src=\"visualisation\/5204255\"><script src=\"https:\/\/public.flourish.studio\/resources\/embed.js\"><\/script><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Veganuary<\/em> is a non-profit organization that encourages people worldwide to try a vegan lifestyle for the month of January and beyond, if possible. According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/veganuary.com\/about\/about-us\/\">Veganuary <\/a>website, sign-ups have increased by 300 per cent in three years, and the program has attracted an increasing amount of national media coverage.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;Matthew Glover and Jane Land launched Veganuary as an online vegan campaign in 2014. According to their <a href=\"https:\/\/veganuary.com\/about\/about-us\/\">website <\/a>their goal is to, \u201cinspire and support people to try vegan, drive corporate change, and create a global mass movement championing compassionate food choices with the aim of ending animal farming, protecting the planet, and improving human health.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They have worked with numerous businesses and media outlets to help market the campaign and make veganism more visible and accessible. As a result, this has promoted and expanded the vegan food supply in grocery stores and restaurants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cRetailers reported a huge demand for plant-based foods amid record Veganuary,\u201d The Guardian reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In recent years Veganuary has gained a lot of popularity and attention, as more people are becoming interested in veganism for a number of reasons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"flourish-embed flourish-chart\" data-src=\"visualisation\/5203341\"><script src=\"https:\/\/public.flourish.studio\/resources\/embed.js\"><\/script><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>A food centric media outlet called <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chefspencil.com\/top-most-popular-countries-and-cities-for-vegans-in-2020\/\">Chef&#8217;s Pencil<\/a> analyzed the popularity of vegan search items around the world using data from Google Trends and found that, \u201cthe popularity of veganism is at an all-time high, surpassing the prior all-time high in 2019\u2026 veganism is now twice as popular as it was just five years ago,\u201d the report states.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thanks to the <a href=\"https:\/\/vegfund.org\/activist-story\/veganuary-one-million-sign-ups\">Veganuary <\/a>campaign more than one million people in 192 countries pledged to try veganism since 2014, and 72 per cent plan to remain vegan once the month is over. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>-Data for graphs curtsey of <a href=\"https:\/\/veganuary.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Veganuary-EndOfCampaignReport.pdf\">Veganuary.com<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As the month of January comes to an end, it also marks the end of Veganuary for some, or the beginning of a new lifestyle for others.
